Wicklow Mountains Part II

"Phew! That was close!" Mama and I thought as we found two seats on the 24 seater Mercedes bus. The doors shut and the bus driver began his continuous stream of facts about Dublin as we embarked upon our journey into the Wicklow Mountains. Our driver ran the bus much like a school, no passenger was aloud to speak while he was speaking....and he was consistently speaking!!! We learned all about the property value in Dublin, how to get a driver's license, and interesting day trips to take. However, as we moved into the mountains, the views took our breath away. We chugged past the Guinness Estate and the filming sites for King Arthur and Braveheart. The wind whipped our faces as we stopped to take photos and experience the tranquil violence of the lakes and mountains. We particularly enjoyed our last stop - an hour and a half break to walk around a village complete with a tower, Irish country homes, century old cemeteries, and lakes.

When we returned to Dublin, Mama, Mike (our new friend from Nashville), and I all enjoyed a stop at Starbucks (I hadn't had a chai in months!!!). Then, Mama and I headed to the hotel...but had to stop when we saw a sign boasting of baked potatoes for 3 euro. "I bet those Irish can sure make potatoes!" We said. Haha - man were we wrong! Expecting a baked potato (brimming with toppings), we received a small potato cut into 4ths, with baked beans, cheese, and a teeny salad on the side! Suffice it to say, we picked up some snacks to tide us over while we continued our girls night reading romance novels and luxuriating together!
